Please find all FAQs and policies in the Monsterotica FAQs & Policies document.  Please note this is an evergreen document that will be updated as changes are made.

Code of Conduct
Monsterotica Book Con (“Monsterotica”) insists on creating an inclusive and supportive environment where all participants are treated with dignity, decency, and respect. Monsterotica expects that all participants (including authors, vendors, attendees, and volunteers) behave in a manner that fosters this type of inclusive environment. If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact a member of conference staff immediately. Conference staff can be identified as they'll be wearing staff-branded badges. Conference staff will be happy to help participants contact hotel/venue security or local law enforcement, provide escorts, or otherwise assist those experiencing harassment to feel safe for the duration of the conference. We value your attendance. We expect participants to follow these rules at conference and workshop venues and conference-related social events. UNACCEPTABLE CONDUCT Demeaning, discriminatory, or harassing behavior and speech are not permitted. Harassment includes offensive verbal comments related to gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, religion, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of talks or other events, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention. Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately. If a participant engages in harassing behavior, Monsterotica organizers may take any action they deem appropriate, including warning the offender or expulsion from the conference with no refund. This code provides general guidelines and cannot cover every possible type of unacceptable behavior. Monsterotica reserves the right to apply corrective action to instances other than the specific examples noted. This Code of Conduct may be modified at any time and for any reason.
Counterfeit Policy
Monsterotica supports our artists and authors. Counterfeit items, bootlegs, knock-offs, or other pirated items are not welcome at Monsterotica. Any vendor (including authors) selling counterfeit items may be removed from Monsterotica, banned from future events, and risk criminal prosecution.
Generative AI
Products and services utilizing Generative AI (including but not limited to books, art, art prints, covers, marketing graphics, banners, narration, etc.) are not welcome at this event. Those found to be violating this policy may be asked to leave Monsterotica at the discretion of conference organizers. If asked to leave due to this violation, no refund will be given.
Personal Promotion
If you are not an official signing author or vendor for Monsterotica 2025, personal sales and promotion are prohibited. Anyone who is found doing so will be asked to leave the conference and will not be provided a refund. Examples of this include, but are not limited to: Handing out business cards or flyers in the signing or panel rooms, selling product of any kind in the space occupied by the conference, doing “pre-orders” for attendees to pick up at the conference, etc.
Indemnification and Insurance
Neither Monsterotica, Hyatt Regency Inner Harbor, nor any agent or employee thereof will be liable for loss of or damage to attendees’ property from fire, theft, or any other causes, or for personal injury to attendees. Attendees agree to indemnify and hold harmless Monsterotica, Hyatt Regency Inner Harbor, its representatives, employees, and agents from any and all claims from property damage or personal injury. Monsterotica is committed to making this as safe an experience as possible but cannot provide attendees additional special security precautions.
Emergency
In the event that the conference is canceled, postponed or relocated on account of fire, strikes, government regulations, casualties, acts of God, or other causes beyond the control of Monsterotica, the attendee waives any and all claim to damages and agrees that the sole liability of Monsterotica and it’s agents shall be to return to each attendee their admission fee.
Badge Policy
Badges must be worn at all times for access to Monsterotica events. Badges will not be mailed and must be picked up at the event. This is an effort to minimize the lost or forgotten badges. Lost badges cannot be replaced without special approval from conference organizers. Badges are non-refundable and cannot be rolled over to a future year. If you have a problem with your badges, please contact conference organizers or info@monsterotica.com.
